Digital story Reflection

The assignment given was that we must choose a topic of our own and make a story on the topic using still pictures. We were told to create a digital story. The rules were that the story must be a minute long and that it should have a story.

For this project I decided to choose the topic of weekends. When I say weekends I mean how high school students spend there time on the weekend, Also how the weekend is the only time us teenagers have to have fun. Between school and home teenagers really never get to do anything they want and I think the weekend is the only time we can so that is what my digital story was about. The images I used for my digital story was the pictures that were taken by my friend at different parties we went to on different weekends. I chose those pictures because I feel it shows how teenagers can go out and party without being influenced to do anything bad.

I choose this story because it’s how I feel every day when I wake up in the morning and get dressed for school. That dragging feeling every grade school student gets when they wake up and the first thought that goes through there head is the thought of how much they don’t want to go to school. But the weekend is when we all feel a sense of relief from the constant listening, learning and homework. I felt that someone should finally just come out and say that the weekend is ours and it’s the only time we have to ourselves.

Looking at the rubric I feel as if I did not do as well as I wanted to. I don’t really like using iMovie I liked using Photoshop better. iMovie was very difficult for me to use and at times I found it frustrating but I think I like Photoshop more because it was kind of already familiar with me. I plan to learn more about iMovie so that it id not difficult next time I have to use it.

The assignment given to us was to make a triptych. A lyrical triptych is basically three different made up images with messages hidden inside them to explain the lyrics. We were told to take multiple images no less then three and make it into one. The song i choose was Daughters by John mayer.
the first Triptych i made i added the man and woman onto the stairs. I also made the picture black and white and gave it a different texture, but left the girl in color to go with the song. The second Triptych was a man who had just came back from war and he's hugging his daughter and or wife and i put a sun set behind them for the peace a person feels when there in the arms of someone they love and another picture of soldiers from the old times to show how no matter what time or place your in things never really change were all the same. And the third one shows a man and his daughter on the beach and a woman and her daughter on the beach to show how we all grow up and reiterate the love given to us as kids to our children.
I made each triptych to the feeling of the lyrics. so some are very soft and relaxed and some are very out spoken and loud. The very first triptych stands out from the other ones because i feel as if it had a very good message. The others are very important to but you have to look further into it and beyond the obvious to get the message of the picture.
Working with Adobe Flash player can get frustrating sometimes but its really cool. I like how you can mix and match pictures i learned stuff i never knew i could do with Adobe. i think my Triptych came out pretty cool. If i had to do something different i would just think and plan out the triptych more further because he first triptych didn't really go with the other to but it came out pretty cool i would never think i would be able to do something like this. Overall this was a very cool project and i enjoyed doing it a lot.

                                      Magazine cover design reflection

Our first assignment in my period 2 graphic design classes was to create a magazine cover and put ourselves on the front. We were told to be creative and also to put a reason why we were on the cover of the magazine. The first step I took to complete this project was to figure out why I was going to be on the cover. Then after I figured out my different topics that related to my reason for being on the cover after that it was a breeze.

My magazine cover has a picture of me standing next to the Eiffel tower in Paris. It also has the different captions of articles that would be in the magazine. My article is a picture of me wearing a orange dress. The background is a picture of the Eiffel tower in black and white. There are different titles that explain what the articles on the inside of the magazine will be about. I faded the text out in black and white so that they stand out more and captivate the audience.

My magazine is all about advice. I have many friends that come to me for advice but not everybody has someone to come to for advice or even like to discuss their problems. Also mostly teenagers, mostly seek advice so I targeted the teenage to be my audience. I choose to do my magazine cover in black and white because I felt like it made it look more realistic that people can relate to. I also put a fun picture.

I think that overall I did a good job. I was creative and open minded about the project. I feel like this project was a good way to express ourselves and show who we are.
